IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING EXTENSION OF STUDIES AND STUDENT DEREGISTRATIONS AT HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS – [ARTICLE 130, LAW 5224/2025]
Government Gazette Issue A’ 142/05.08.2025 – Article 130 –
"Specification of issues regarding maximum duration of studies – Amendment of Article 76 of Law 4957/2022"
Article 76 of Law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette A’ 141), concerning the maximum duration of studies and part-time studies, is hereby replaced.
According to Law 5224/2025, which was recently passed, students who have reached the maximum duration of studies and have not yet obtained a degree will be automatically deregistered from their Department two (2) months after the announcement of the results of the September 2025 resit exam period.
However, the law provides for the possibility of a two (2) semester extension, upon submission of a request, for students who meet the following specific criteria:
- Important: The extension is not granted automatically; an application is required.
- The application must be submitted to the Department Secretariat within a strict 30-day deadline from the announcement of the September 2025 exam results.
