Department of History and Archaeology

PROFESSIONAL RIGHTS

All undergraduate degree holders of the Department of History and Archaeology are able to work in Secondary Education, where they may teach History, Literature and other related subjects. A significant number of our graduates has successfully turned to other professional options (heritage management, journalism, publishing) in the public and private sector, based on the skills acquired during their studies, such as synthetic and critical thinking, language proficency, the multi-faceted study of political and social phenomena. Graduates with postgraduate studies teach in Greek and foreign higher education institutes.

Graduates with a specialization in history are additionally able to work at specialized ceners of historical research and knowledge production (archives, research intitutes, libraries, museums etc.). Archaeologists and art historians often work for the so called Archaeological Service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which aims at the protection of monuments and also the organization of museums and exhibitions.  στόχο της οποίας αποτελεί η προστασία των µνηµείων, καθώς και η οργάνωση µουσείων και εκθέσεων. Archaeologists and art historians  also work at research centers, private Museums and collections.
